This role is to provide support and direct care to children in the Licensed Care Program, encouraging intellectual, physical and emotional growth
Reports to: Childcare Coordinator

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Implements developmentally appropriate activities for program participants
Identifies and supports children attending the program who are experiencing challenges, and collaborates with other Leaders and Supervisors to work with the children to build useful skills through modeling, mentoring, teachable moments, and supportive conversations
Ensures program environments are clean, suitable, caring, respectful, and inclusive
Ensures compliance with all safety and security protocols related to the Childcare environment, including the administration of emergency preparedness drills, observes/removes/remedies potential hazards, and reports them to the appropriate person
Implements the Policies & Procedures of the Quadra village Community Centre (QVCC), as well as those specific to the Community Childcare program
Supports and delivers communication from the Supervisor or agency to parents, caregivers, schools, and relevant agencies
Maintains awareness of participant feedback and integrates constructive feedback in practice/programs
Responds to general inquiries, by phone and in person regarding QVCC and the Community Childcare program, and shared in the work of operating and maintaining a respectful, inclusive, functional and useful community centre.
Ensures the maintenance and tabulation of attendance and incident logs regarding the program and participants, making regular written and verbal reports as required by Childcare Licensing and the Supervisor
Transports children in the agency’s vehicle, updates applicable logbooks and ensures the vehicle is clean and well maintained (if qualified)
Performs other related duties when required and approved by the Supervisors and/or Executive Director
Qualifications:
Commitment to anti-oppressive, decolonial, and anti-racist practice.
20 Hours Responsible Adult Certificate or minimum 20 hours of recognized training/course work in child development, guidance, nutrition, or health and safety. QVCC may provide formal training or coursework for the successful candidate
Must be a minimum of 19 years of age, due to Licensing requirements
Food Safe Certified or willingness to obtain
First Aid and CPR or willingness to obtain
Class 4 Driver’s Licence, or willingness to obtain (preferred but not required)
Strong oral and written communication skills: excellent interpersonal and collaborative ability
Ability to work with integrity and respect in a diverse, multi-cultural community centre
Experience and/or education directly related to school aged childcare, summer camp, recreation, child and youth development, developmentally appropriate activities, behavior management and group supervision are all considered an asset for this position.

Benefits and Remuneration:
$21.16 per hour
Additional 6% vacation pay, paid out each pay period
Immediate enrolment in the Employee & Family Assistance Program
Paid training and/or workshops applicable to position
Hours of Work
Between 4 to 19 hours per week, scheduled in relation to the needs of the program
Monday to Friday
